My name is Steven Labecki and I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Wisconsin. Since I was very young, walking nature trails or drawing pictures of trees, the outdoors and especially art have always played a vital role in my life. However, it wasn't until I sustained a severe hand injury from an industrial accident that I ever considered art as a career.
Not really sure how to pursue my passion for art, I decided to go back to school at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) where I later earned an Applied Arts Associates Degree in Communication Arts. It wasn't long after attending MATC that I realized the satisfaction that comes from creating a strong presence and perceived value through research and great design of a brand. After encouragement from a mentor to further my education, I also attended the Milwaukee Institute for Art & Design where I went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design.
My career has changed a lot over the last eighteen years. Every school or place of employment has expanded my design skills to include: branding, packaging, print media, and web design just to name a few. Interestingly enough, it has also opened doors for another creative passion as well, photography!
Though originally a hobby, it was after an opportunity to take on a wildlife and lodging photoshoot a while back for a client that this all changed. This photoshoot was one of the most stressful, punishing, and at times even dangerous things I've ever done. It was also one of the most rewarding. It was an amazing experience and I captured images of a lifetime.
Now when I'm not designing, I'm out taking photos; everything from wildlife, landscapes and abstract architecture to trains, planes, and automobiles.
